Zeverland beginner guide: your first day
Every claim below is officially described or seen in playtests — nothing invented. Here's how the first minutes after the Red Rain actually play, and what to prioritize.

The survival stats you manage
The playtest HUD tracks a row of survival vitals: hunger, thirst, infection status, temperature and mood. "Common sense is your best tool" is the studio's design pitch — drink clean water, hunt or forage, stay warm, stay human.
First-day priorities
- Scavenge everything. Furniture, toilets, tools — objects are parts. Start with a mattress and a water filter.
- Make a first weapon. Combine any two items — even odd pairs work (the official examples: a bat with a camera, a tennis racket with a zed head).
- Find shelter before dark. Camps grow from there — and NPC recruits can hold the fort.
- Watch the danger rating. Each area carries one in the HUD; deeper infection layers pay better and bite harder.
- Decide about bites early. Infection is a choice — cure, or rebuild yourself as a zed. Know your answer before you're bitten.
Skills grow by doing
Playtest footage shows XP earned per activity — Stamina XP, Marksman XP, Charisma XP (even a campfire hangout paid out) — on top of quests, talent trees and attribute points. Play the way you want to main; the game levels it.
Factions and radio quests
Reputation quests come from factions like The Rebuilders and The Misfits, often accepted over the radio. They're the on-ramp to the world projects — the server-wide goals that decide your world's ending.
